Privacy Policy

Muslim Ohio (muslimohio.com) is a community site for Muslims across Ohio: masjids, Jummah times, programs, Muslim-owned businesses and local news. This page explains, in plain words, what information we handle and why. We do not sell your information, and we do not run advertising trackers.

What we collect

• Accounts: if you create an account, your email, your name if you give it, and your password, which we store only in a scrambled (hashed) form we cannot read.
• What you send us: reviews you write, and listings or corrections you submit, along with the contact name and email you enter on those forms.
• Technical data: your IP address is used briefly to protect the site from abuse, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.

Your location

Some features can show the nearest masjids or local prayer times. These only use your location if you allow it in your browser, and we do not save it to your account. To work out local prayer times, your approximate location may be sent to prayer-time and map services (Aladhan and OpenStreetMap).

Cookies and browser storage

We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser stores small items like recent searches to make the site faster. We do not use them to track you across other sites.

Who else is involved

The site runs on Microsoft Azure. Page styles and fonts load from jsDelivr. Prayer times come from Aladhan and maps from OpenStreetMap. These services receive basic technical data, such as your IP address, when your browser connects to them.

Our YouTube and Facebook posts

Muslim Ohio posts news videos to our own YouTube channels and our own Facebook Page. Those tools connect to accounts we own, using the Google and Meta sign-in systems, only to upload and manage our own videos and posts. Visitors to this site are not asked to connect their Google, YouTube or Facebook accounts for this, and we do not access or collect their data from those services. YouTube's use of data is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

How long we keep it, and your choices

We keep account information while your account is open, and the reviews and submissions you send while they are in use on the site. You can ask us at any time to correct or delete your account and information.

Children

This site is for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
